Welcome

Narrative poetry is one of three distinctive styles of poetry.

·                  Its purpose is to tell a story that takes the reader on a journey of imagination.

·                  The poet develops the story line and characters; but it is the reader that brings the story to life.

·                  It is a genre of poetry that appeals to an audience without limit.

·                  It entertains people of all ages and backgrounds.

·                  Its rhyme and rhythm makes narrative poetry fun.

Let me take you on a journey through your imagination…

We will start our journey in the myths section. We will come to fear the wailings of the Weeping Woman as she searches the riverbank for her lost boys. We will continue to Misery Hill where we will find out what really happened to Tom Bowers.

After exploring the rest of the myth section we will move into the legends section. We will encounter famous and infamous people. We will go on an adventure with Stagecoach Mary and fight alongside The Boy Soldier. We will anguish over the fate of the Runaway.

As we finish our journey in the legends section we will move back in time to the history section. We will learn what happened When Thomas Met Henry. We will learn how Nebraska became a land of wheat in Free Land. We will learn how the Greek city-states defeated a much larger army at The First Battle.

With the history section behind us, you will be introduced to my humor, wit and sensitivity in the me section. Our journey will take us to Labor Day of Sixty-Five. That day changed my life forever. You will cry with me as we take The Walk. You will laugh with me as we spend a Halloween night with Billy, Bobby, Susie, and Mandy.
